Two Harbors, MN – Gary Putney
As of 18:00 Friday night, the Edwin H. Gott was loading at the Two Harbors shiploader.

St. Joseph, MI – Joshua Hebeisen
A pretty sweet day for boatnerds and bakers alike was on the menu for St. Joe, with the recipe calling for 2 boats, 3 port calls, and… 91 donuts!?! That’s not a typo from frosting-covered fingers — a grand total of 7 baker’s dozen pastries from Red Coach Donuts were delivered by Harbormaster Michael Moran on Friday, tying a St. Joughnuts daily record and making some ship crews very happy!

The first batch of lucky sailors were those on the beloved steamer Alpena, arriving at 08:26 on just their first visit of the season. The oldest ship on the Great Lakes would unload cement at Holcim and load up on St. Joughnuts swag ashore before backing out the river at 19:33, bound for Muskegon, MI, with the remainder of her powdered cargo (and maybe powdered donuts).

Known sweet tooth Sam Laud was next to arrive at 20:54, in need of some sugar after a quick trip to Muskegon, MI, early in the day to offload a few thousand tons of her aggregate cargo. After waiting for the pesky Amtrak train to cross the swing bridge, the Laud slipped through for a midnight snack at Dock 63, unfortunately amidst a torrential downpour. But as this author can attest, St. Joughnuts taste great even in the rain!
