Duluth, MN – Superior, WI – Joshua Hebeisen
A trio of late-night action on Friday evening got underway with the Edgar B. Speer moving for the first time in over two weeks. Her engine repaired after several weeks of issues, the footer was finally able to sail down the harbor and depart via the Superior Entry at 23:15 to break in the new equipment on the lake. She was due next to load at Two Harbors just up the North Shore. As the Speer passed BNSF on her way out, Algoma Central’s Captain Henry Jackman was beginning to pull away from Dock 5 with 31,000 tons of Hibtac pellets. She followed the Speer outbound at 23:39 en route to Quebec City. Michipicoten was waiting to load at anchor just off the piers and promptly arrived just before midnight.

Saturday’s vessel traffic would also be confined to the Superior side of the harbor until late evening. American Century, scheduled to load coal at SMET, arrived to take a delay at Enbridge around 03:30. Michipicoten departed for the Soo at 04:19 following a speedy load of 17,500 tons of Keetac pellets, clearing the dock for her fleetmates Victory/Maumee to arrive at 15:28. The tug/barge would load 23,000 tons of the same cargo, also for the Soo, and left port at 21:43. CSL Tadoussac was inbound for BNSF at 22:08 after slowing down to let the tug/barge pass. Over in West Duluth, Mesabi Miner finished her load at CN Dock 6 and departed at 22:51 for Indiana Harbor. Walter J. McCarthy Jr. arrived via the Duluth Ship Canal about 15 minutes later to take her turn at the shiploader. Her fleetmate American Century cast off from Enbridge around midnight and headed up the bay for SMET. Arthur M. Anderson is loading blast furnace trim for Gary at CN-Hallett Dock 5, and Federal Caribou remains anchored off the Duluth piers waiting to load at Gavilon. Presque Isle is at Fraser Shipyards for repairs.

Two Harbors, MN – Silver Bay, MN – Gary Putney
American Integrity arrived Two Harbors at 08:52 on 7/1 and departed at 23:17 for Gary. Edwin H. Gott arrived Two Harbors at 23:17 and she departed at 08:32 for Nanticoke. The Spruceglen arrived off Two Harbors at approx. 08:30 on 7/1 to wait on the Gott to finish loading. The Edgar B. Speer arrived South of #2 on 07/02 at 12:22.

Sturgeon Bay, WI – Joshua Hebeisen
Mark W. Barker returned from sea trials at 00:26 Saturday morning, this time tying up along the outer facing of the dock.

Milwaukee, WI – MKE Marine Reports
After delivering foreign steel, Federal Mayumi cleared for Duluth at 17:31 Friday. G.L. Ostrander/Integrity arrived from Alpena at 17:36 with cement for Lafarge. The pair cleared for St. Joseph at 08:12 Saturday. Viking Octantis arrived at 04:58 Saturday concluding an eight-day cruise from Thunder Bay. She will embark on an eight-day cruise to Toronto Sunday afternoon. Algoma Intrepid is expected from Nanticoke late Saturday with steel slag for the St. Marys grinding plant. Ocean Navigator is expected early Sunday concluding a fourteen day roundtrip cruise out of Chicago (passengers are bussed from and to Chicago).

Southern Lake Michigan Ports – Joshua Hebeisen
Calumet Harbor, IL: At 07:24 Saturday morning, frequent visitors Caroline McKee/Commander were back in town with more cement destined for the St. Marys Cement Chicago Terminal. The pair briefly waited against the facing of the Iroquois terminal to allow the outbound Algoma Innovator to pass on her way out to the lake. The Innovator was finally headed for Bruce Mines after over a week in port, mostly spent at the Compass Minerals facility.
Indiana Harbor, IN: Wilfred Sykes arrived at 20:23 from Port Inland for the limestone dock just south of Dock 7H.
Gary, IN: John G. Munson spun around off the breakwater before arriving at 20:43 to unload Minntac pellets from Duluth.
Burns Harbor, IN: Polsteam’s Lubie was a morning arrival at 08:19, tying up at FMT Burns Harbor just south of the Federal Montreal. Indiana Harbor spent Saturday unloading at Cleveland-Cliffs.
St. Joseph-Benton Harbor, MI: Rieth-Riley Construction received a shipment of trap rock Saturday afternoon from Grand River Navigation’s Calumet, who entered the St. Joseph River just before 16:00 to unload. The busy day in port would also see G.L. Ostrander/Integrity arrive at 17:29 with cement for Holcim. The Calumet made her way outbound for Calcite at 21:32. 

Goderich, ON – Bruce Douglas
Algoma Conveyor arrived 9.09am Saturday morning loading at Compass Minerals, her 7th appearance here this season.

Detroit, MI – Windsor, ON – Joshua Hebeisen
Kaye E. Barker was up the River Rouge again early Saturday morning with Tilden pellets for Dearborn. She departed for Sandusky at 18:59, one minute shy of exactly 15 hours in port. Cruise ship Ocean Voyager was in port from 06:39 to 18:52 as her passengers explored the Motor City, while Lee A. Tregurtha wrapped up a quiet day when she arrived for EES Coke at 20:47 with coal from Sandusky. Everlast/Norman McLeod remain at Marathon.

Lake Erie Ports – Bill Kloss
Monroe, MI: Harvest Spirit and New York/Double Skin 509A are both still in port.
Toledo, OH: Arrivals were Herbert C. Jackson, Joyce L. VanEnkevort/Great Lakes Trader and Olive L. Moore/Menominee. Departures were Karen Andrie/Endeavor for Burns Harbor and Herbert C. Jackson.
Marblehead, OH: American Courage arrived at 10:31. She’ll load stone for Fairport Harbor.
Sandusky, OH: Manitoulin departed for the Soo at 03:01. Lee A. Tregurtha loaded coal and departed for Zug Island at 14:33.Blair McKeil arrived at 11:36 and anchored in Lake Erie. Converging on Sandusky are John D. Leitch and Kaye E. Barker.
Cleveland, OH: Taking a break from the shuttles,  American Courage departed for Marblehead at 02:43. Redhead Vectis Progress NACC Capri
