Duluth, MN – Superior, WI – Joshua Hebeisen
After a long stay at BNSF 5 waiting for weather conditions to improve, CSL Niagara was finally able to depart with her 30,000-ton Hibtac cargo early Wednesday morning. The Canada Steamship Lines self-unloader cleared the Superior piers at 01:19 en route to Nanticoke. James R. Barker was the only other vessel passage of the day, proceeding inbound the Superior Entry for the first time in about two or three years to load Hibtac pellets at BNSF 5. The 13:20 arrival was “Bark”-less, as the vessel’s two-toned serenade is the captain’s wonderful tradition reserved for Canal Park and Aerial Lift Bridge while in the Twin Ports. Others in port on the Superior side of the harbor were Federal Seto loading wheat at CHS 1 and Lee A. Tregurtha undergoing the final stages of fit-out. The veteran laker is now expected to get underway for the first time this season on Friday at the earliest. There was no traffic on Wednesday in Duluth, though Walter J.
