Work on the future Mark W. Barker in Bay Shipbuilding’s graving dock took a significant step on Wednesday, where the pilothouse and upper section of the deckhouse was lowered into place. Aside from the forecastle, the entire hull has been pieced together; various components, including the self-unloading boom, hatch covers, anchors, chains, thrusters, and rudder, lie on the dock waiting to be installed. Construction is at a more advanced stage on the fuel barge Clean Canaveral, also in the graving dock. The LCS Cooperstown is on the floating drydock for work, while Roger Blough and Cason J. Callaway remain sidelined in long-term layup. The former Sarter tug Donny S was towed to Baileys Harbor Tuesday to be scrapped. She had been moved to the Roen Salvage pier last week and had her stack removed (possibly more) before the William C. Gaynor towed her north.
