St. Marys River – Joshua Hebeisen
It was a Coast Guard kind of day in the Soo, with both the U.S. and Canadian fleets hard at work up and down the St. Marys River. Beginning at 09:10, USCGCs Bristol Bay and Katmai Bay departed U.S. Coast Guard Station Sault Ste. Marie in the span of an hour and headed downbound on the icy river. While Bristol went to dock at Lime Island, Katmai broke ice above Neebish Island and headed back to her berth at 13:44. USCGC Mackinaw sailed up the river from Cheboygan, MI, in the late morning and would join her little fleetmate at Lime. CCGS Judy LaMarsh, a repurposed Caspian Sea tug joining the Canadian Coast Guard this year, entered the St. Marys earlier in the day and made her first appearance in the Soo by supper. She is docked for the night at the eastern end of the Canadian Lock.

USCGC Mackinaw fired up the engines and departed north at 09:48.

CCGS Judy LaMarsh got going from the anchorage midmorning and departed around 10:00 for the Soo.
Port Huron, MI – Sarnia, ON – Joshua Hebeisen
Departing Suncor at 06:18 with a load of product for Detroit, MI, Iver Bright embarked on another of her downbound journeys that are now occurring with greater frequency as the weather warms up (well, not really, considering she left in yet another snowstorm). CCGS Samuel Risley arrived from Lake Huron at 07:52 after breaking ice in the Meldrum Bay, ON, area, taking up her usual position at the Government Dock.
Detroit, MI – Windsor, ON – Joshua Hebeisen
Monday morning Mistersky was on the agenda for tanker Iver Bright upon her arrival at 11:20. She would remain at the dock for the remainder of the day, later joined just to the south by New York/Double Skin 509A as the pair shifted over from Marathon in the late evening hours.
Lake Erie Ports – Bill Kloss
Nanticoke, ON: Algoma Tankers Algoterra departed Imperial Oil with petroleum products for Sarnia while McKeil Marine’s Harvest Spirit left Stelco with steel coils for Cleveland.
