Two Harbors, MN – Gary Putney
No boats in port. Next will be the Edwin H. Gott.

Thunder Bay, ON – Joshua Hebeisen
It may be planting season for spring wheat in North America, but the Algoma Harvester is content to just keep on, well, harvesting. The second-eldest member of the Equinox Class arrived T-Bay at 03:20 on Mother’s Day morning and proceeded to P&H for another load of wheat. Though that was the extent of Sunday traffic in the harbor, Federal Champlain remained at Keefer Terminal with BBC St. Petersburg to the north at Midcontinent Terminal. Both salties made port on the 11th.

Marquette, MI – Noah H.
Victory/Maumee arrived in the opening hours of Mother’s Day. Perhaps they should have temporarily renamed the duo “Victory/Mommy.” I suppose it would be difficult to justify the paint cost to rename it. At any rate, the 02:12 arrival was followed by a Kaye E. Barker departure at 04:49, with the AAA vessel headed down to Dearborn per usual. A few hours later, Joyce L. VanEnkevort/Great Lakes Trader made it a barge bonanza at the ore dock with their 10:26 arrival. The party was broken up rather quickly when the initial tug/barge departed at 13:08 for Toledo. Still to come are the Hon. James L. Oberstar and American Spirit.

St. Marys River – Know Your Ships
Interlake Steamship Co. was well-represented Sunday afternoon and evening at the Soo. Passing upbound were Stewart J. Cort, Mesabi Miner and Hon. James L. Oberstar, while Kaye E. Barker and Paul R. Tregurtha were downbound.

St. Joseph, MI – Benton Harbor, MI – Michael Moran
Samuel de Champlain/Innovation arrived at 14:36 to unload cement for Holcim.

Muskegon, MI – Noah H.
Herbert C. Jackson arrived from Detroit at 20:28 to unload at Cobb Verplank. It’s her third visit of the season, already matching the total from the previous year.

Bruce Mines, ON – Joshua Hebeisen
Downbound the St. Marys River after a trip to the Canadian Soo, Manitoulin entered the North Channel and sailed into Bruce Mines in the early morning hours. The Frankensteined tanker-laker was outbound for Chicago, IL, at 12:30 with stone from Ontario Trap Rock.

Meldrum Bay, ON – Joshua Hebeisen
Algoma Innovator pulled up to the dock at 13:45 Sunday afternoon to load stone from the Lafarge quarry.

Goderich, ON – Bruce Douglas
Algoma Compass cleared 22:54 Friday upbound for Chicago with salt. Algoma Niagara will be soon here for salt, making her first appearance of the season. Algoma Buffalo is expected next for salt.

Lake Erie Ports – Bill Kloss

Erie, PA: Defiance/Ashtabula unloaded at Carmeuse, then left for Fairport Harbor.
Buffalo, NY: NACC Alicudi left for Bath, ON.
Nanticoke, ON: Departing were CSL Niagara and Harvest Spirit. Algotitan is loading at Imperial Oil. Algoberta and Algoterra are anchored off of Port Dover. Presque Isle was a late night arrival with ore for Stelco.

Buffalo, NY – Brian Wroblewski
The Vermont helped the NACC Alicudi leave at 18:15 on May 14. They were made up back aft to check her stern swing and rode along down to the reach just above the Skyway before dropping the tow line. The Alicudi then departed on her own, headed for Bath, Ontario to take on another load of cement.

While we do not currently have daily summaries for the following ports, their respective port authority websites post schedules of vessel traffic that are featured below. Each schedule is a miniature webpage within a box. Scroll with your cursor in the box (or slide your finger within the box on a mobile device) to move through the schedule as you would a normal webpage. To move up or down the actual Port Reports page itself, make sure your cursor/finger is outside of the box.
