Duluth, MN – Superior, WI – Scott Bjorklund
Duluth Entry
Paul R. Tregurtha arrived at 23:21 (Central) Friday night to load low sulfur coal at SMET. Ocean-going vessel UAL Fortitude arrived at 08:29 Saturday morning with a mix of containers and machinery for Port Terminal from Belgium. Paul R. Tregurtha departed at 12:20 that same day. Tug Candace Elise arrived with tank barge Deegan at 02:57 Sunday morning with calcium chloride for Envirotech-Hallett #8. Michipicoten arrived at 22:27 Sunday night to load iron ore pellets at CN#6.

Monday was particularly busy for the Duluth Entry! Arthur M. Anderson arrived at 01:02 with limestone for CN-Hallett #5. American Century briefly arrived at 01:59 and departed at 04:56 for Two Harbors after fueling. James R. Barker arrived at 05:22 to load low sulfur coal at SMET. Michipicoten departed at 08:23 with iron ore pellets for Sault Ste. Marie. Candace Elise departed at 12:20 for Ludington. James R. Barker departed with coal at 14:33 for St. Clair. American Mariner arrived at 15:07 with limestone for CN-Hallett #5. Finally, UAL Fortitude departed at 15:51 for Cleveland. Arthur M. Anderson departed at 22:47 Monday night with iron ore pellets for Gary. Mesabi Miner arrived at 23:28 to load iron ore pellets at CN#6.

Most of Tuesday was quiet for vessel traffic; American Spirit was the only arrival for the day, entering the canal at 20:52. As of Tuesday night, Mesabi Miner was still loading at CN while American Spirit waited on the other side of the dock for them to leave. Mesabi Miner is estimated to depart sometime early Wednesday with iron ore pellets. Joseph L. Block is expected mid-morning, but they might anchor outside port to wait for American Spirit to load. Michipicoten is expected Wednesday night to also load iron ore pellets at CN. American Mariner may leave sometime Wednesday with wheat.

Superior Entry
American Integrity departed at 20:15 (Central) Saturday night with iron ore pellets. Algoma Discovery arrived at 20:40 to load next at BNSF; they departed at 08:02 Sunday morning with iron ore pellets. Rt. Hon. Paul J. Martin arrived at 08:48 to load at BNSF. The Martin departed at 18:55 Sunday evening, resulting in the CSL Tadoussac arriving at 19:47. The Tadoussac departed at 08:44 Monday morning with iron ore. Finally, Burns Harbor arrived at 15:34 to load at BNSF.

Burns Harbor departed at 10:07 Tuesday morning with iron ore pellets for her namesake port. Stewart J. Cort arrived at 12:06 to load at BNSF. As of Tuesday night, Stewart J. Cort was still loading at BNSF, John J. Boland was still drydocked at Fraser, and American Mariner was loading at General Mills. Stewart J. Cort is estimated to depart Wednesday morning with iron ore. CSL Niagara is expected mid-morning to load at BNSF; Algoma Conveyor will be loading at BNSF once the Niagara departs.

On Tuesday, American Century loaded at the shiploader for Conneaut.

Thunder Bay, ON – Joshua Hebeisen
Monday morning traffic began just before 08:00 with Kaministiqua cozying up against the Current River elevator at Richardson International. Things would remain quiet until midday, at which point Algoma Harvester’s 13:46 departure from P&H (bound for Baie-Comeau, QC) preceded yet another long break in activity. Blue BBC St. Petersburg pulled out from Midcontinent Terminal at around 20:30 and ventured farther up the coast to Richardson Main.

CSL St-Laurent was first inbound on Tuesday for a load of grain at Viterra A. Her 10:51 arrival was followed up 7 hours later by an appearance from Algoma Strongfield, who tied up at G3 on the southernmost edge of the harbor. Kaministiqua was outbound from Richardson Main just minutes later with an unknown destination.

Lake Erie Ports – Bill Kloss
May 15
Toledo, OH:
Arrivals were Clyde S. VanEnkevort/Erie Trader to unload at Ironville and Cuyahoga to Anderson’s.  Departing was Algoma Conveyor to Superior, WI, Calumet to Calcite, Algoma Transport, Cuyahoga and Clyde S. VanEnkevort/ErieTrader. Still in port are Wilfred Sykes at CSX, Bogdan at Kuhlman’s and New York/Double Skin 509A at Midwest Terminal.
Marblehead, OH: Dorothy Ann/Pathfinder is loading at Holcim.
Sandusky, OH: John D. Leitch arrived to load coal at Norfolk Southern.
Lorain, OH: Cuyahoga unloaded at Amcor then left for Toledo. Dirk S. VanEnkevort/Michigan brought in stone for Carmeuse. The tug and barge departed for Marblehead once empty.
Cleveland, OH: Departing were Laura L. VanEnkevort/Joseph H. Thompson to Meldrum Bay and American Courage to Detroit.
Fairport Harbor, OH: Defiance/Ashtabula unloaded at Osborne and left for Calcite.
Erie, PA: McKeil Spirit departed for Picton, ON.
Buffalo, NY: Iryda is still unloading raw sugar at Sucro Sourcing.
Nanticoke, ON: Algotitan departed with petroleum products for Halifax, NS. Algoterra weighed anchor and is at Imperial Oil while Algoberta remains at anchor. Presque Isle unloaded at Stelco and departed for Two Harbors, MN. Harvest Spirit is back loading at Stelco.

May 16
Monroe, MI:
Harvest Spirit arrived to unload steel coils at the Port dock.
Toledo, OH: The saltie Bogdan has departed for an overseas port. Wilfred Sykes has finally been repaired and left for Dearborn, MI. Also leaving for Detroit was New York/Double Skin 509A. The tug and barge Victory/Maumee is at the Torco dock.
Marblehead, OH: Dorothy Ann/Pathfinder loaded stone and left for Marysville, MI. Dirk S. VanEnkevort/Michigan Trader arrived to load stone at Holcim.
Sandusky, OH: John D. Leitch loaded coal and left for Hamilton, ON.
Cleveland, OH: Mark W.Barker arrived at Cargill to load salt. Sharon M1/Huron Spirit had a quick unload at the Port, unloading steel coils in under 6 hours. Prentiss Brown/St.Marys Challenger went to the Columbus St. terminal to unload cement. Calumet arrived empty at the Bulk Terminal and is scheduled to load a couple shuttles.
Conneaut, OH: American Integrity was a late night arrival to unload at the P&C dock.
Nanticoke, ON: Harvest Spirit departed Stelco for Monroe, MI. Algoterra is loading at Imperial Oil and Algoberta is anchored and was joined later in the day by the tanker Kitikmeot W.
