Duluth, MN – Superior, WI – Joshua Hebeisen
American Century arrived Duluth at 01:56 hungry for another 68,000 tons of coal at Midwest Energy. This is the 23rd visit to the dock by a vessel since the start of 2022. Running ore to the Soo with a quick turnaround time, Michipicoten made another appearance in Superior for BNSF at 10:51. The dock had ample time to prepare for her arrival after servicing no vessels yesterday, and the laker was outbound with 17,500 tons of Keetac only four hours later. While Michipicoten was loading, Edwin H. Gott finished taking a delay at Hallett 5 in Duluth and departed under the Aerial Lift Bridge at 12:54. The footer sailed down the length of the Minnesota Point sandbar and arrived Superior for BNSF at 15:34 following the Michipicoten’s departure. The last vessel traffic of the day, American Century departed Duluth at 16:26 with a belly full of coal for St. Clair. USS Minneapolis-St. Paul is tied up at the Port Terminal awaiting her commissioning ceremony.
Two Harbors, MN – Silver Bay, MN – Gary Putney
Rt. Hon. Paul J. Martin departed Two Harbors on Tuesday at 03:46 for Quebec City. Walter J. McCarthy Jr. arrived at 07:11. Due in port on Wednesday is Atlantic Huron.
Marquette, MI – Joshua Hebeisen
American Mariner arrived at 06:16 to load ore on the north side of the LS&I gravity dock. She departed for Cleveland at 16:05, likely headed to unload at the Bulk Terminal as she did last week. The delivery of Tilden pellets to Cleveland may be becoming a new trend this season after a decade-long hiatus.
Milwaukee, WI – MKE Marine Reports
Polsteam’s Juno arrived at 21:37 Monday and proceeded to the Federal Marine Terminals dock at south Slip 1 in the outer harbor. She carries steel from Iskenderun, Turkey. Federal Fraser arrived off Milwaukee about 02:00 Tuesday and went to anchor southeast of the breakwater light. She carries steel from Antwerp and will move to Federal Marine Terminals when Juno is finished. G.L. Ostrander/Integrity is expected Tuesday evening with cement for Lafarge.
Southern Lake Michigan Ports – Joshua Hebeisen
Calumet Harbor, IL: At 08:48 Tuesday morning, Caroline McKee/Commander departed the Calumet River en route to Charlevoix, as usual. Exeborg is still at Iroquois Lakehead Terminal.
Indiana Harbor, IN: With her cargo of UTAC pellets ashore at Cleveland-Cliffs Dock 7H, James R. Barker departed upbound for Superior at 12:17. Her sister Mesabi Miner, waiting at anchor, proceeded inbound with Minorca pellets for 7H at 12:54.
Burns Harbor, IN: Arriving for Carmeuse Lime and Stone at 16:56 were Defiance/Ashtabula, carrying a load of stone from Calcite. Burns Harbor departed Cleveland-Cliffs for Superior at 17:56, and Federal Columbia remains at Federal Marine Terminals.
Detroit, MI – Windsor, ON – Joshua Hebeisen
Everlast/Norman McLeod arrived at 06:47 for Misterky, where they remained for the rest of the day. On her second voyage upbound, Viking Octantis arrived for Nicholson at 07:11 and sent her passengers ashore for a day in Detroit. CSL Tadoussac was inbound for St. Marys on the River Rouge at 7:52, while Algoma Intrepid sailed out the Rouge from Levy and departed upbound for Goderich at 08:21. New York/Double Skin 509A were another pair of visitors on the river, tying up at Marathon. John G. Munson arrived with stone from Calcite to unload just north of the Ambassador Bridge; she departed just before midnight heading back to Calcite. Her passengers back on board, Viking Octantis departed at 17:32 for her next scheduled stop in Alpena. Calumet arrived at 20:14 for Carmeuse just up the Rouge, while Kaye E. Barker sailed up the Detroit River at 20:31 for south of Zug Island.
Lake Erie Ports – Bill Kloss
Monroe, MI: New York/Double Skin 509A departed for Detroit.
Toledo, OH: Departures were Samuel de Champlain/Innovation for Alpena. Hon. James L. Oberstar, Federal Bering, and Lubie are still at their docks. Arrivals were Kaye E. Barker, Dirk S. VanEnkevort/Michigan Trader, saltie Celina, and Saginaw.
Marblehead, OH: Laura L. VanEnkevort/Joseph H. Thompson arrived at 05:14 to load at Lafarge before departing at 18:47. Joyce L. VanEnkevort/Great Lakes Trader anchored to wait for their fleetmate to depart. They went to the dock at 19:35.
Sandusky, OH: CSL Niagara left Monday night; Sam Laud arrived at 08:24 Tuesday.
Cleveland, OH: Departures were Laura L. VanEnkevort/Joseph H. Thompson and Joyce L. VanEnkevort/Great Lakes Trader, both for Marblehead; NACC Capri for Bath, ON; Sam Laud for Sandusky; Algoma Buffalo for Thorold, ON; and research vessel Thomas Jefferson to conduct surveys on Lake Erie. Federal Beaufort and Federal St. Laurent are at the Port docks.
Nanticoke, ON: Algonorth arrived at 02:19 and anchored off of Port Dover. Algoma Hansa arrived at 04:24 and docked at Imperial Oil. CSL Niagara arrived at Stelco at 12:36 to unload coal.
Hamilton, ON – Joshua Hebeisen
Algoma Strongfield arrived at 17:23 with ore for ArcelorMittal Dofasco and tied up at the north end of the dock. Lylin followed her inbound 30 minutes later, proceeding to anchorage where she awaits a grain cargo. Joining the Strongfield at ArcelorMittal was Harvest Spirit; McKeil’s laker docked at the south end of the slip to unload petroleum coke. Federal Ems departed at 22:49 with grain for Europe. Hamilton is hosting six other vessels as of Tuesday night: Federal Kumano is at Federal Marine Terminals with sugar; fleetmate Federal Hunter is discharging UAN at Agrico; Bodgan is at P&H loading grain; and Shoveler, MTM Singapore, and Ruby-T are all at anchor.
