Two Harbors, MN – Gary Putney
As of 20:00 hours Paul R. Tregurtha was still at the loading dock. John G Munson should be in the Two Harbors area by Saturday morning.
Thunder Bay, ON – Joshua Hebeisen
Algoma Mariner kept the slow times rollin’ in T-Bay as the port’s only official passage on Friday. The not-quite-Equinox-class self-unloader made her way in just after 20:00 to load at P&H. Federal Cedar and Harvest Spirit both took up positions out in the anchorage in the latter half of the day; the Cedar is likely waiting on sister Federal Champlain to wrap up at Keefer Terminal, while Harvest Spirit will be loading next at P&H after the Mariner clears.
Manistee, MI – Chris Franckowiak
The rain stopped just in time for Manitowoc’s arrival in town Friday morning. The ship made her usual delivery of coal to the TES – Filer City dock, from Toledo, OH. She was expected to depart Manistee around 19:00.
Bruce Mines, ON – Joshua Hebeisen
Algoma Innovator backed in at Ontario Trap Rock just before 20:00 to pick up an overnight load of stone.
Meldrum Bay, ON – Joshua Hebeisen
Spotty AIS left her official departure time a mystery, but classic Cuyahoga left sometime after 08:15 with stone for the Saginaw River.
Stoneport, MI – Joshua Hebeisen
Departing for Detroit, MI, at 21:00 was tug/barge team Dirk S. VanEnkevort/Michigan Trader. Hon. James L. Oberstar, patiently waiting out in the lake since noon, was next inbound for a rocky cargo.
Detroit, MI – Windsor, ON – Joshua Hebeisen
The only arrivals in the Motor City’s log for Friday would be a pair of ATB combos. Dorothy Ann/Pathfinder were inbound from Stoneport, MI, at 07:05 to unload both up the Rouge and west of Zug Island, later continuing downbound at 14:29 for Marblehead, OH. Meanwhile, Laura L. VanEnkevort/Joseph H. Thompson made port at 13:37 to fuel up at Mistersky for the journey north to Bruce Mines, ON. The duo continued on their way at 15:51.
All set to go after her grounding earlier in the week, Mark W. Barker picked up the chain off Belle Isle and resumed her voyage to Milwaukee, WI, around 22:00. This time, the sophomore salt carrier had no issues passing the island’s southern shore. G-tug Pennsylvania shadowed the Barker close behind and continued to do so as she entered the St. Clair River, presumably on hand in the event of another power failure.
