Duluth, MN – Superior, WI – Joshua Hebeisen
American Integrity arrived the Duluth piers at 05:23 Thursday morning headed for a load of taconite at CN 6. Her fleetmate Indiana Harbor was also inbound for taconite, but on the Superior side of the harbor; she tied up at BNSF 5 shortly after 06:30 to load Keetac pellets. At 08:10, Federal Ruhr arrived Duluth with the first load of cement for the Holcim facility this season. H. Lee White made port with limestone for Hallett 8 at 12:20, and James R. Barker was an evening arrival for coal at Midwest Energy at 20:37. Both vessels arrived via the Duluth Entry. About an hour after the Barker cleared the piers, Indiana Harbor was outbound at Superior with 63,000 tons of ore for Gary. Arthur M. Anderson wrapped up the day when she arrived Duluth with limestone for Hallett 5 at 23:44. USS Minneapolis-St. Paul remains at the Port Terminal.
Two Harbors, MN – Silver Bay, MN – Gary Putney
Departing Two Harbors on Thursday at 02:47 was Atlantic Huron for Quebec City. Cliffs Northshore Mining in Silver Bay saw the arrival of Clyde S. VanEnkevort/Erie Trader on Thursday at 12:40. Due in Two Harbors on Friday are Edgar B. Speer and Michipicoten. Due in Cliffs Northshore Mining on Friday are Dirk S. VanEnkevort/Michigan Trader.
Milwaukee, WI – MKE Marine Reports
G.L. Ostrander/Integrity arrived from Alpena at 19:17 Tuesday with cement for Lafarge and cleared for Calumet Harbor at 14:40 Wednesday. Prentiss Brown/St. Marys Challenger arrived from Charlevoix at 08:21 Wednesday with cement for the Kinnickinnic River terminal. As of Wednesday evening, Juno was still at Federal Marine Terminals while Federal Fraser remained at anchor outside the harbor.
Lake Erie Ports – Bill Kloss
Monroe, MI: Paul R. Tregurtha arrived at 13:31 to unload a partial coal load at DTE.
Toledo, OH: Arrivals were CSL Niagara, Calumet, and Joseph L. Block. Departures were CSL Niagara, Celina, and Calumet. Still in port are Federal Bering, Lubie, and Gardno.
Marblehead, OH: Joyce L. VanEnkevort/Great Lakes Trader left late Tuesday night for Lorain. Cuyahoga departed for Kingsville at 06:37. Calumet arrived at 19:28 to load at LaFarge/Holcim.
Kingsville, ON: Cuyahoga arrived at Southwestern Sales at 10:36 to unload stone. She emptied and departed for Cedarville at 15:21.
Sandusky, OH: Radcliffe R. Latimer arrived at 07:47 to load coal at Norfolk Southern.
Lorain, OH: Joyce L. VanEnkevort/Great Lakes Trader arrived Tuesday night to unload stone at Carmeuse. She left for Calcite at 16:12.
Cleveland, OH: American Mariner left for Meldrum Bay at 03:09. Port activity included Evans Spirit arriving at 03:41 going to Dock 22E and Leonard MI/Huron Spirit arriving at 05:40 to unload steel coils at Dock 24N. New York/Double Skin 509A arrived at 08:22 to unload petroleum products at Marathon. Arriving at 09:54 was the tug/barge Petite Forte/St. Marys Cement for the St. Marys Jefferson St. terminal. Algoma Buffalo left with salt for Montreal at 12:53.
Nanticoke, ON: Baie Comeau departed for Windsor. Algoma Sault arrived at Stelco at 01:21. Algonorth Algoterra and Algocanada both are anchored off of Port Dover. Harvest Spirit arrived at Stelco at 18:15 to load steel coils.
Buffalo, NY – Brian Wroblewski
Oceangoing freighter Josef arrived off Lackawanna sounding the fog warning signal on her way in at 09:00 on Thursday. The weather was terrible at the time with bad visibility due to fog and rain. Tug Vermont met them at the south entrance and assisted the ship into the Lackawanna Canal. She was bringing in the second half of a split load of windmill parts after departing Ogdensburg, NY a few days ago. Josef was secure at the Gateway Metroport bulk apron by 09:30 and the tug was released shortly after.
