Duluth, MN – Superior, WI – Joshua Hebeisen
Saltie Nunalik arrived Duluth at 06:05 for Port Terminal Berth 1, where she will be unloading wind turbine components from Europe over the next few days. Federal Seto arrived to anchor just off the Duluth piers around 09:00; she is likely waiting to load grain at a Twin Ports facility. American Mariner was the only other traffic of the day when she arrived at 15:41 with limestone for Graymont. Federal Ruhr is still unloading cement powder at Ash Grove.
Two Harbors – Gary A. Putney
Edwin H. Gott arrived Two Harbors on 05/25 at 04:22 and departed on the same date at 16:32 for Nanticoke The Presque Isle is also headed for Nanticoke. The CSL Assiniboine anchored off Two Harbors on 05/25 at approx. 01:40. At 18:00 she was still stopped, probably waiting on wind. Due Two Harbors are the Great Republic that as of 18:00 was North of Outer Island and the Indiana Harbor that is several miles East. She will probably go to anchor.
Southern Lake Michigan Ports – Joshua Hebeisen
Calumet Harbor, IL: Drawsko arrived Iroquois Lakehead at 05:21.
Indiana Harbor, IN: Her holds empty, Mesabi Miner departed Dock 7H for the lake around 14:20, leaving Baie Comeau alone on the east side of the harbor. The Miner is due next in Duluth. Joseph L. Block is still at the old Mittal West facility.
Burns Harbor, IN: The port is currently empty after Burns Harbor and Federal Fraser departed for Superior, Wisconsin and Ghent, Belgium at 02:39 and 16:53, respectively. Burns Harbor was unloading at Cleveland-Cliffs, while Federal Fraser had been tied up at Metro Ports.
St. Joseph – Benton Harbor, MI: Samuel de Champlain/Innovation departed for Alpena at 02:19.
Detroit, MI – Windsor, ON – Joshua Hebeisen
CSL Tadoussac meandered out the River Rouge after unloading at St. Marys and set sail for Superior at 03:28. She was followed out the Detroit River by Clyde S. VanEnkevort/Erie Trader; the tug/barge combo was headed for Stoneport following a stop at DTE EES Coke on Zug Island. Also outbound for Stoneport was Hon. James L. Oberstar after paying a visit to Cleveland-Cliffs Dearborn Works with Tilden pellets from Marquette. Everlast/Norman McLeod weighed anchor at 06:19 and proceeded to Warner Petroleum’s Mistersky Fuel Dock. Whitefish Bay cast off from Windsor Salt for Toronto around 11:30, Herbert C. Jackson was inbound at 16:16 for what appeared to be the Levy dock, and Florence Spirit departed at 18:00 for Sandusky after loading at ADM. Federal Bering immediately arrived from anchorage to take the Spirit’s place at the dock. Everlast/Norman McLeod were outbound at 22:15 for a Suncor Energy facility, likely in Sarnia.
Lake Erie Ports – Bill Kloss
Toledo, OH: Prentiss Brown/St. Marys Challenger arrived at 12:31. Federal Bering left for Windsor and Algoma Transport departed for Hamilton at 17:42.
Cleveland, OH: Dorothy Ann/Pathfinder arrived at 02:03, unloaded stone at RiverDock and moved to Cargill to load salt. Arriving at 07:59 was the cruise ship Ocean Navigator to dock 28W at the Port. Algoma Buffalo departed at 09:30 with salt for Thorold, ON. Petite Forte/St. Marys Cement arrived at 14:27 and went to the Jefferson St. terminal. McKeil Spirit left for Picton at 18:58.
Fairport Harbor, OH: American Courage departed for Ashtabula at 11:39.
Ashtabula, OH: American Courage arrived at 14:10 to undergo inspection after grounding in Fairport Harbor.
Nanticoke, ON: Algoma Hansa anchored off of Port Dover at 15:47. Presque Isle is at Stelco, arriving at 12:59 to unload ore.
Hamilton, ON – Joshua Hebeisen
Once again, Hamilton saw only two vessel passages on Wednesday, May 25. Algoma Equinox departed at 07:01 for Two Harbors after unloading ore at ArcelorMittal Dofasco, and Hinch Spirit was inbound at 13:01 to enter lay-up and undergo repairs at GLS. Other vessels docked in port include Lyulin loading grain at P&H, Vectis Pride unloading steel at Federal Marine Terminals, and Federal Alster taking on grain at Richardson. Edenborg, Harbour Progress, Maria G, and Federal Hunter spent another day at anchor.
