Port Reports – May 3

Duluth, MN – Superior, WI – Joshua Hebeisen
Activity in the Twin Ports began shortly after sunrise with the arrival of American Mariner at 05:50. She made her way under the Aerial Lift Bridge and over to the Superior side of the harbor to discharge limestone at Graymont. Just a few docks southeast, former fleetmate Walter J. McCarthy Jr. got underway from her berth at Lakehead Pipeline as the Atlantic Huron departed Superior from BNSF Dock 5 at 06:57. The CSL veteran is carrying Hibtac ore for Quebec City and eventual export overseas. The McCarthy took her place at the dock shortly thereafter to load Keetac pellets eventually destined for Conneaut. In Duluth, Spruceglen departed at 10:59 with ore from CN Dock 6, and Paul R. Tregurtha was inbound at 12:22 to load coal. American Mariner departed Graymont mid-afternoon empty for Two Harbors, but made her exit through the Superior Entry to give Hon. James L. Oberstar a clear path to the dock. The Oberstar had been anchored off the Duluth piers since about 08:00 with more limestone for Graymont and made her way into the harbor via the Duluth Ship Canal at 15:53. Hudsongracht remains at the Clure Public Marine Terminal, and Rt. Hon. Paul J. Martin is still anchored off Superior waiting to load.

Two Harbors, MN – Silver Bay, MN – Gary Putney
Arthur M. Anderson departed Two Harbors from north of #2 Sunday at 20:07, and fleetmate Edgar B. Speer cast off from the south side of the dock exactly three hours later. Both vessels are bound for Gary with taconite pellets. Edwin H. Gott was outbound the following morning at 09:05 for Nanticoke; American Mariner arrived at 17:40 for south of #2. South of Two Harbors at 19:00 is the American Integrity. Cliffs Northshore Mining in Silver Bay saw the departure of the Clyde S. VanEnkevort/Erie Trader at 10:22 Monday for Toledo.

Thunder Bay, ON – Anonymous
Saltie Johanna G arrived at the Richardson Current River Terminal on Monday at 08:03 to load grain. CSL Welland departed at 12:41 for Montreal, and Algoma Conveyor was outbound three hours later for Hamilton. 

Northern Lake Michigan Ports – Anonymous
Port Inland, MI: John G. Munson arrived Monday at 07:42 to load limestone. Joyce L. VanEnkevort/Great Lakes Trader arrived shortly after and went to anchor.
Charlevoix, MI: Prentiss Brown/St. Marys Challenger arrived at the St. Marys Cement plant at 04:41 to load.

Southern Lake Michigan Ports – Joshua Hebeisen
Indiana Harbor, IN: Joseph L. Block was inbound at 19:17 and made her way to Mittal West, likely to load excess taconite pellets for shipment to another Cleveland-Cliffs facility.
Burns Harbor, IN: Wilfred Sykes arrived at 21:29 for the Cleveland-Cliffs dock.
St. Joseph – Benton Harbor, MI: Calumet arrived at 11:23 with Stoneport limestone for Dock 63. She departed at 18:54 for Port Inland, but was forced to back out the channel instead of turning in the basin due to strong currents. 

Northern Lake Huron Ports – Anonymous
Stoneport, MI: Olive L. Moore/Menominee arrived Monday at 01:10 to load limestone.
Calcite, MI: At 11:22 Sunday, Manitoulin departed for Sombra.
Cheboygan, MI: Albert/Margaret arrived at the US Oil Co. terminal Monday at 15:29 to unload petroleum products.
Port Dolomite, MI: After loading limestone, Manitowoc departed Monday at 07:13 and is currently downbound on Lake Huron.
Bruce Mines, ON: Saginaw arrived Monday at 07:45 to load trap rock.
Meldrum Bay, ON: On Sunday at 23:59, Algoma Intrepid departed for Windsor. Laura L. VanEnkevort/Joseph H. Thompson were next at the Lafarge quarry, arriving thirty minutes later to load limestone and departing at 11:49 for the Saginaw River. Kaye E. Barker arrived at 13:07, also to take on stone.
Parry Sound, ON: Cuyahoga arrived Monday at 5:39 to unload road salt and departed at 11:39.

Goderich, ON – Bruce Douglas
Fivelborg continues to load at the elevators, and Algoma Innovator arrived 01:37 early Monday morning for Compass Minerals. She is loading salt for Milwaukee on what is her fifth trip to Goderich this season. 

Detroit, MI – Windsor, ON – Joshua Hebeisen
Indiana Harbor arrived at 03:06 to fuel at Mistersky on her way to Two Harbors. Federal Churchill was inbound at 06:32 and tied up along the Nicholson dock as the Harbor finished fueling and passed her upbound for Lake St. Clair. A pair of tug/barge combos was the only other traffic until evening, with G.L. Ostrander/Integrity departing at 08:33 after servicing Lafarge and Victory/Maumee in port for fuel at Mistersky from 12:01 to 15:18. American Courage was next in the fuel line at Detroit from 20:11 to 23:17, while Algoma Intrepid arrived at 22:00 to fuel at Sterling Fuels Limited across the river in Windsor. Baie Comeau arrived Windsor Salt at the same time. Sea Eagle II/St. Marys Cement II are still at St. Marys Cement on the River Rouge; Harvest Spirit is moored at ADM in Windsor.

Lake Erie Ports – Bill Kloss
Toledo, OH: Arrivals were G.L. Ostrander/Integrity, Algoma Sault, and Mesabi Miner. Departures were Evans Spirit for Thunder Bay and Dirk S. VanEnkevort/Michigan Trader for a Lake Superior port.
Marblehead, OH: Defiance/Ashtabula arrived at 15:25 to load at Lafarge. Dorothy Ann/Pathfinder are at anchor.
Lorain, OH: Defiance/Ashtabula departed for Marblehead at 08:28.
Cleveland, OH: American Courage arrived at 04:10, unloaded at Ontario Stone, and left for Port Inland at 12:47. Polsteam’s Lubie arrived at 10:27 and is at Dock 24W. She has steel coils and skids. Dorothy Ann/Pathfinder are off the shuttles and left for Marblehead at 13:39. NOAA research vessel Thomas Jefferson departed at 13:47 and is surveying in Lake Erie.
Erie, PA: Presque Isle is at the Carmeuse dock undergoing mechanical repairs.
Nanticoke, ON: Algoma Equinox arrived Stelco at 18:23 with CSL Niagara close behind her at 19:14. Algonova is at Imperial Oil.

Buffalo, NY – Brian Wroblewski
The saltie Sunda is still unloading sacks of raw cane sugar from Brazil at the Sucros Sourcing refinery in Lackawanna. She’s backed in and tied up at the southern end of the Lackawanna Canal at Gateway Metroport.

Port Colborne, ON – Joshua Hebeisen
With superstructure, boom, and stern section removed, the hull of the fire-damaged St. Clair has been winched ashore at Marine Recycling Corporation (MRC) before scrapping proceeds on what remains of the ill-fated laker. According to owner Wayne Elliott, MRC’s innovative method utilizes multiple hydraulic chain pullers – each of which has over 900 tons of power – to hoist hulls out of the water and onto giant air bag rollers. St. Clair is the largest vessel to be removed using this process.

Hamilton, ON – Joshua Hebeisen
Federal Beaufort arrived at 00:40 to form a quartet with Tundra, Shoveler, and Marietje Deborah in the inner anchorage, though the Deborah would soon make her way to the Richardson terminal to load grain in the early-morning hours. Algoma Equinox departed at 03:26 for Quebec, allowing Florence Spirit to move up along the ArcelorMittal dock and discharge petroleum coke at the Dofasco complex. Algoma’s Captain Henry Jackman was another ArcelorMittal arrival at 09:30; she tied up where the Spirit did to wait her turn at the dock. Algoma Harvester was the last traffic of the day when she departed at 12:24 with grain for Quebec. Other vessels in port included Chem Norma discharging UAN at Agrico, Perelik and Federal Baltic offloading steel at Federal Marine Terminals, and Damia Desgagnes laid-up at Lafarge.


Port Reports – May 2

Duluth, MN – Superior, WI – Joshua Hebeisen
Following a rare trip to Two Harbors late last week, Sam Laud continued her tour of Lake Superior with a stop in Superior, Wisconsin at 07:59. She tied up at BNSF Dock 5 to load taconite pellets, likely Keetac. Over in Minnesota, Arthur M. Anderson departed Duluth light at 08:09 bound for Two Harbors after waiting out the weather. Atlantic Huron anchored off the Superior Entry around 08:30 waiting for Sam Laud to finish loading, and Walter J. McCarthy Jr. passed her while heading inbound at 11:57 to take a delay at Lakehead Pipeline. Afternoon in Duluth saw Spruceglen arrive for CN Dock 6 at 12:27 and USCGC Spar return from buoy tending at 13:11. Sam Laud departed Superior for Algoma Steel at the Soo around 15:12; Atlantic Huron rounded out the day’s traffic by taking her place at BNSF about 30 minutes later. Rt. Hon. Paul J. Martin anchored off the Superior piers at 22:00 waiting to load. Hudsongracht remains at the Duluth Port Terminal unloading quartz. 

Two Harbors, MN – Silver Bay, MN – Gary Putney
James R. Barker departed Two Harbors Sunday at 09:26 for Indiana Harbor. Edgar B. Speer arrived at 14:03 for south of #2, where fleetmate Arthur M. Anderson was taking on a partial load on the other side of the dock after arriving at 10:44. As of 19:00, Edwin H. Gott is anchored north of Port Wing and due next in Two Harbors.

Thunder Bay, ON – Anonymous
After unloading road salt at MobilEx, Algoma Conveyor shifted to the Superior Elevator to take on grain. Algoma Sault departed with grain for Toledo Saturday at 18:07, and CSL Welland arrived at Viterra A two hours later to load the same cargo. At 23:54, Spruceglen left her berth at the Keefer Terminal for Duluth-Superior. Rt. Hon. Paul J Martin was underway for Superior Sunday at 09:00.

Northern Lake Michigan Ports – Anonymous
Port Inland, MI: American Mariner arrived Friday at 20:30 to load limestone for Duluth-Superior and departed at 13:48 the following afternoon.
Charlevoix, MI: Caroline McKee/Commander arrived Saturday at 5:09 to load at the St. Marys Cement plant. The pair were outbound for Grand Haven at 15:37.

Southern Lake Michigan Ports – Joshua Hebeisen
Calumet Harbor, IL: Venerable steamer Alpena arrived at 03:52 to discharge cement products at Lafarge. She sailed back up the Calumet River late evening and was outbound for Milwaukee at 23:13.
Indiana Harbor, IN: Federal Frontier departed for Belfast, Great Britain at 06:46.
Gary, IN: At 11:51, John G. Munson cleared the breakwater headed north for Port Inland.
Burns Harbor, IN: Burns Harbor departed for Superior at 13:37 after unloading ore at Cleveland-Cliffs.

Northern Lake Huron Ports – Anonymous
Stoneport, MI: Calumet arrived Saturday at 18:09 to load limestone before departing Sunday at 8:03 for the St. Joseph River.
Calcite, MI: On Saturday at 22:56, Hon. James L. Oberstar departed with limestone for Duluth-Superior. Manitoulin arrived at 23:33 to load.
Port Dolomite, MI: American Courage departed Saturday at 21:51 for Cleveland; Manitowoc arrived at 22:21 to load limestone.
Drummond Island, MI: Joseph L. Block departed Saturday at 22:28 with limestone for Buffington.
Thessalon, ON: Saturday saw Michipicoten arrive at 20:29 to load stone before she departed Sunday at 07:55 for Windsor.
Meldrum Bay, ON: Algoma Intrepid arrived at the Lafarge quarry Sunday at 01:27 to load limestone. At 07:35, Laura L. VanEnkevort/Joseph H. Thompson arrived and went to anchor. 

Goderich, ON – Bruce Douglas
Fivelborg, assisted by tug Ocean Discovery, arrived 16:00 Sunday and is at the elevators. Algoma Innovator is expected next for salt.

St. Clair River – Rod Burdick
Saginaw unloaded the first cargo of the season at the Courtright aggregate dock on Sunday, May 1.

Detroit, MI – Windsor, ON – Joshua Hebeisen
Algoma Innovator arrived Detroit at 03:13 for Edward C. Levy Co.’s dock on the River Rouge. H. Lee White stopped for fuel at Mistersky at 06:19 and continued on her upbound journey to the Soo at 10:40. Lafarge’s facility on the Detroit River saw the arrival of G.L. Ostrander/Integrity at 11:21, and fellow tug/barge combo Everlast/Norman McLeod tied up along the river shortly thereafter for Mistersky fuel. The St. Marys Cement plant also saw action Sunday with Sea Eagle II/St. Marys Cement II arriving at 13:40. The Innovator and Everlast departed their respective berths at 13:52 and 17:48 bound for Goderich and Sarnia. Across the river in Windsor, Harvest Spirit is still at ADM. 

Lake Erie Ports – Bill Kloss
Monroe, MI: Everlast/Norman McLeod departed for Detroit at 07:18.
Toledo, OH: Arrivals were Evans Spirit at 02:05, Dirk S. VanEnkevort/Michigan Trader at 06:06, and Federal Yukon at 16:47.
Sandusky, OH: H. Lee White departed with coal for Algoma Steel in the Soo.
Lorain, OH: Defiance/Ashtabula arrived at 16:37 to unload stone at Carmeuse.
Cleveland, OH: Departures were Petite Forte/St. Marys Cement for Bowmanville and Algoma Buffalo for Toronto. Dorothy Ann/Pathfinder arrived at 06:46 and are back on the shuttles.
Fairport Harbor: Dorothy Ann/Pathfinder unloaded stone at Osborne and left for Cleveland at 02:43.
Ashtabula, OH: John J. Boland arrived late Saturday night. She left for Clarkson at 16:59.
Conneaut, OH: Indiana Harbor left for Two Harbors at 14:24.

Nanticoke, ON: CSL Tadoussac departed for Bowmanville at 08:38. Algocanada departed for Sarnia at 13:35, while fleetmate Algonova lifted anchor and went to Imperial Oil at 13:36.

Hamilton, ON – Joshua Hebeisen
Hamilton started off the day with a pair of arrivals in Federal Baltic and Algoma Equinox, arriving via the canal at 09:15 and 09:36, respectively. The Baltic is joining fellow saltie Perelik in unloading steel at Federal Marine Terminals, while the Equinox is unloading ore at ArcelorMittal’s Dofasco complex. Florence Spirit also called on Dofasco upon her arrival at 13:06, but was forced to tie up at the northern end of Dock 21 until the Equinox leaves the dock. Chem Lyra departed Agrico empty for an overseas port at 22:22, clearing the way for anchored fleetmate Chem Norma to proceed to the dock to discharge UAN. This leaves the saltie trio Tundra, Shoveler, and Marietje Deborah on the hook in the inner harbor. Algoma Harvester is loading grain at P&H, and Damia Desgagnes is in lay-up at Lafarge.


Port Reports – May 1

Duluth, MN – Superior, WI – Joshua Hebeisen
The Twin Ports are getting their fair share of bad weather this spring, with gale warnings in effect for the area once again until 10:00 Sunday. This did not deter Saturday morning traffic in Duluth, which saw Mesabi Miner outbound for an angry Lake Superior at 07:27. She is carrying what are likely UTAC taconite pellets destined for Toledo. Arthur M. Anderson was the only other movement of the day on either side of the harbor, arriving at 08:41 with limestone for CN-Hallett Dock 5. The Anderson is due next in Two Harbors to load iron ore pellets but is currently waiting out weather in Duluth. Hudsongracht is still moored at the Duluth Port Terminal.

Two Harbors, MN – Silver Bay, MN – Gary Putney
James R. Barker arrived Two Harbors at 21:52 Friday night for south of #2. She is still at the dock as of 19:00 Saturday; she may still be loading and/or waiting on weather. Stormy conditions have also forced Edgar B. Speer to anchorage just west of Sand Island while waiting for the Barker to clear south of #2. Her fleetmate Edwin H. Gott was off the Eagle River area heading for Two Harbors.

Thunder Bay, ON – Anonymous
Algoma Conveyor arrived the MobilEx Valley Camp dock at 05:58 Saturday to unload road salt. Rt. Hon Paul J. Martin, due at BNSF Dock 5 in Superior, diverted course and went to anchor in Horigan Bay due to weather. At 16:50, Osogovo finished loading potash and departed for Santos, Brazil.

St. Marys River – Roger LeLievre
The Manitoulin Island ferry Chi-Cheemaun was downbound Saturday after a winter refit at Thunder Bay.

Northern Lake Michigan Ports – Anonymous
Port Inland, MI: American Mariner arrived Friday at 20:30 to load limestone for Duluth-Superior and departed at 13:48 the following afternoon.

Muskegon, MI – Shipwatcher News
Wilfred Sykes unloaded slag Saturday morning at the eastern end of Muskegon Lake at Verplank’s dock, the old location of the B.C. Cobb Power Plant. After finishing, she headed north for Port Inland.

Southern Lake Michigan Ports – Joshua Hebeisen
Calumet Harbor, IL: After discharging a partial load of cement products at Ozinga, Samuel de Champlain/Innovation traveled farther down the river to service Lafarge’s terminal. The tug/barge combo was outbound for Muskegon just after midnight on Sunday.
Indiana Harbor, IN: Federal Frontier remains at Dock 7H showing an AIS destination of Belfast, United Kingdom.
Gary, IN: John G. Munson anchored off the breakwater early afternoon before arriving at 22:30 to unload at the USS Gary Works.
Burns Harbor, IN: Herbert C. Jackson departed at 08:38, leaving Burns Harbor alone at the Cleveland-Cliffs dock unloading a cargo of Hibtac pellets from Superior. 

Northern Lake Huron Ports – Anonymous
Alpena, MI: Alpena departed Friday at 15:57 for Chicago. On Saturday, G.L. Ostrander/Integrity arrived at the Lafarge plant to load cement products and departed for Detroit at 16:11.
Calcite, MI: Olive L. Moore/Menominee arrived at 15:44 Friday afternoon to load limestone and departed at 04:09 the next morning for the Saginaw River. Hon. James L. Oberstar was inbound to load at 06:58.
Port Dolomite, MI: Arthur M. Anderson finished loading limestone early Friday morning and departed for Duluth-Superior. American Courage was the next vessel inbound to load stone, arriving the dock at 20:39.
Drummond Island, MI: Joseph L. Block arrived Friday at 19:39 to load limestone.
Bruce Mines, ON: After loading trap rock, Algoma Innovator departed for Detroit at 04:41 Saturday.
Meldrum Bay, ON: Saginaw arrived Friday at 22:01 to load limestone and departed for Sarnia at 11:23.

Algoma Transport continued loading salt for Milwaukee at Compass Minerals.

Detroit, MI – Windsor, ON – Joshua Hebeisen
Calumet departed for Stoneport at 00:34, and Paul R. Tregurtha took her place at Mistersky after arriving Detroit at 03:41. Prentiss Brown/St. Marys Challenger were inbound for Nicholson at 05:15, Florence Spirit departed for Hamilton with Zug Island coke at 07:22, and a refueled Tregurtha was upbound the Detroit River for Superior on her usual run to Superior at 09:04. American Integrity was next to fuel at Mistersky at 10:52 and left for Two Harbors at 14:15; in the meantime, Prentiss Brown and her barge cast off for Charlevoix at 11:40. Harvest Spirit rounded out the day’s traffic at 17:54 when she arrived for ADM at Windsor. 

Lake Erie Ports – Bill Kloss
Monroe, MI: Paul R. Tregurtha departed for Superior, and Everlast/Norman McLeod arrived at 01:31.
Marblehead, OH: Dorothy Ann/Pathfinder departed with stone for Fairport Harbor.
Sandusky, OH: H. Lee White arrived at 05:34 to load coal at Norfolk Southern.
Lorain, OH: Cuyahoga departed for Windsor.
Cleveland, OH: Algoma Buffalo arrived at 12:46 for another load of salt at Cargill.
Fairport Harbor, OH: John J. Boland arrived at 15:93, discharged a partial load at Osborne, and departed at 19:54. Dorothy Ann/Pathfinder took her place at the dock to unload late Saturday night.
Conneaut, OH: American Integrity was outbound after unloading ore at the P&C dock; her footer fleetmate Indiana Harbor arrived at 15:32 to do the same. The Integrity is due next in Two Harbors for another load of ore.
Erie, PA: John J. Boland arrived at 02:28 with stone for Carmeuse. She departed for Fairport Harbor at 09:41.
Nanticoke, ON: CSL Tadoussac arrived late Saturday night to unload ore at Stelco. 

Buffalo, NY – Brian Wroblewski
Around 08:30 on Tuesday, April 26, NACC Capri pulled up the hooks and came in to meet the tug Vermont at the northern entrance. She was spun around and towed stern-first for Holcim. The 610-foot saltie Sunda arrived around 11:00 from the Welland Canal and went to anchor off Lackawanna; she was met by Vermont and New Jersey around 13:00 at the southern entrance. The tugs helped her rotate in the Outer Harbor Southern Channel and proceed through the Lackawanna Canal for the southern end of the Gateway Metroport main dock. She is still unloading sugar at the Sucros Sourcing bulk apron as of Saturday morning. NACC Capri finished unloading at Holcim and departed Buffalo at 08:00 on Wednesday the 27th. Later that morning, H. Lee White arrived for the Frontier elevator at 11:20 and tied up without the help of tugs. New York/Double Skin 509A departed Suite Kote with Vermont at 08:00 on the 28th bound for Detroit. The White was in port for about two days and departed for the lake at 10:50 on the 29th.

Hamilton, ON – Joshua Hebeisen
Algoma Strongfield arrived under the Burlington Canal Lift Bridge at 02:30 with ore for ArcelorMittal Dofasco. Tanker Chem Norma was inbound at 06:21 to anchor; she will reportedly wait in the inner harbor before proceeding to an unknown dock for layup. After departing Friday evening, Algoma Harvester made a loop in the lake and came back in at 07:51 to load grain at P&H. She may have been cleaning her holds after unloading ore yesterday at ArcelorMittal. Salties Mandarin and Jessica B both departed with grain at 10:44 and 15:00 for Belfast, Great Britain and Aviera, Portugal, respectively. Algoma Strongfield departed 23:26 en route to Thunder Bay. Like yesterday, Chem Lyra remains discharging UAN at Agrico; Tundra, Marietje Deborah, and Shoveler are at anchor waiting their turn at the docks; Perelik is unloading steel at Federal Marine Terminals; and Damia Desgagnes is laid-up at Lafarge.

Viking Octantis officially began her inaugural cruise when she departed for Port Weller and the Welland Canal at 20:52. 


Port Reports – April 30

Duluth, MN – Superior, WI – Joshua Hebeisen
As was the case on Thursday, only three lakers arrived or departed the Twin Ports on Friday. Mesabi Miner was inbound Duluth at 07:44 to load ore at CN Dock 6, and fellow footer American Century left with coal for St. Clair just under an hour later. CSL Niagara departed via the Superior Entry at 10:25 with Keetac pellets for Nanticoke. General cargo vessel Hudsongracht is still at the Duluth Port Terminal unloading quartz bags.

Two Harbors, MN – Silver Bay, MN – Gary Putney
Manitoulin departed at 03:24 with a load of ore from south of #2. As of 18:00 on Friday night, James R. Barker is northeast of Outer Island heading for Two Harbors. Also due in port is Edgar B. Speer; she is currently off the Upper Peninsula and traveling along the southern shore.

Thunder Bay, ON – Anonymous
Harvest Spirit departed Viterra Elevator A at 23:43 Wednesday before shifting to the Richardson International Terminal (Main) to finish loading grain. She departed Thursday at 16:39 for Windsor. Algoma Sault arrived Friday at 07:03 to load grain at Viterra B.

Northern Lake Michigan Ports – Anonymous
Charlevoix, MI: Undaunted/Pere Marquette 41 finished unloading gypsum at the St. Marys Cement plant and departed 02:18 Thursday for Port Inland.
Port Inland, MI: Kaye E. Barker departed for Muskegon at 06:02 Thursday with a load of limestone. Undaunted/Pere Marquette 41 arrived to load the same cargo at 09:12 and were outbound at 13:27 for Marinette.

Sturgeon Bay, WI – Roger LeLievre
Joyce L. VanEnkevort/Great Lakes Trader arrived at Bay Shipbuilding early Friday and tied up on the face.

Manitowoc, WI – Joshua Hebeisen
Algoma Intrepid continued unloading at the Briess malting complex on Friday. According to MKE Marine Reports, her cargo of barley from Trois-Rivières, Quebec is the first delivery the facility has received by vessel since 2007. 

Muskegon, MI – Joshua Hebeisen
Kaye E. Barker remained just outside the breakwaters overnight and was confirmed to be aground on a sandbar Friday. After unloading some of her limestone cargo on a barge pushed by local tug George F. Bailey, the Barker was able to free herself at around 17:00 and went to anchor off the harbor entrance. Wilfred Sykes was inbound on Friday evening to unload slag, but dropped anchor next to the Barker before attempting an entrance. She eventually got underway and proceeded inbound at midnight. 

Southern Lake Michigan Ports – Joshua Hebeisen
Calumet Harbor, IL: Caroline McKee/Commander were outbound at 02:22 headed for Charlevoix and more cement. Departing for Goderich at 18:23 after five days in port was Fivelborg. Samuel de Champlain/Innovation are still unloading cement products down the Calumet River at Ozinga.
Indiana Harbor, IN: Federal Frontier was inbound for Dock 7H after spending just under 24 hours at anchor in between Calumet Harbor and Indiana Harbor. Loaded with a cargo of slag from the former Mittal West dock, steamer Wilfred Sykes departed at 10:20 for Muskegon.
Burns Harbor, IN: Burns Harbor and Herbert C. Jackson arrived the Cleveland-Cliffs dock at 15:09 and 21:45, respectively. Burns Harbor is unloading ore from Superior at the southern end of the slip, while the Jackson is tied up at the northern berth. 

Northern Lake Huron Ports – Anonymous
Alpena, MI: Cement carrier Alpena weighed anchor and arrived at the Lafarge plant to load in her namesake port.
Calcite, MI: John J. Boland arrived Wednesday at 19:54 to load limestone and departed Thursday at 17:37 for Erie.
Port Dolomite, MI: After American Courage departed for Sombra Thursday at 01:31, Arthur M. Anderson proceeded to the dock to load limestone.
Bruce Mines, ON: Michipicoten arrived at 6:47 Thursday to load trap rock and departed at 17:37 for Windsor. Algoma Innovator was in port on Friday to load trap rock as well.
Thessalon, ON: Frontenac departed Wednesday at 22:27 with trap rock for Windsor. 

Goderich, ON – Bruce Douglas
Algoma Transport backed into Compass Minerals 10:25 Friday morning to load salt. This is the Transport’s first visit this season and the twentieth vessel hosted by the port this year. 

Detroit, MI – Windsor, ON – Joshua Hebeisen
Florence Spirit arrived at 06:24 for the western side of Zug Island. Frontenac departed Sterling Fuels at 11:37 en route to Superior, and Hon. James L. Oberstar was outbound for Calcite at 12:48 after unloading at the Dearborn Works. Clyde S. VanEnkevort/Erie Trader stopped for fuel at Mistersky between 15:17 and 21:45 on their way to Silver Bay, and Calumet tied up at the dock immediately after they finished.

Lake Erie Ports – Bill Kloss
Monroe, MI: New York/Double Skin 509A arrived at 08:50 to unload petroleum products, and Paul R. Tregurtha was inbound at 11:56 to discharge coal at DTE.
Toledo, OH: Clyde S. VanEnkevort/Erie Trader departed for Silver Bay. Calumet arrived at 08:16, unloaded salt, and left for Detroit at 11:56.
Marblehead, OH: Laura L. VanEnkevort/Joseph H. Thompson left Thursday evening for Cleveland.
Lorain, OH: Cuyahoga arrived at 07:12 to unload salt at Amcor.
Cleveland, OH: Morning departures were Leonard M and Prentiss Brown/St. Marys Challenger. Petite Forte/St. Marys Cement are unloading, and Laura L. VanEnkevort/Joseph H. Thompson arrived late Thursday night to discharge stone at RiverDock. The latter left at 18:18 for Meldrum Bay.
Conneaut, OH: American Integrity arrived at 09:13 to unload ore at the P&C dock.
Erie, PA: Presque Isle remains anchored.
Nanticoke, ON: Algosea departed for Halifax at 01:07. Algocanada is at Imperial Oil, and fleetmate Algonova arrived at 19:00 to anchor off Port Dover.

Hamilton, ON – Joshua Hebeisen
After discharging steel at Federal Marine Terminals East, Vlieborg left port under the Burlington Canal Lift Bridge at 16:31. She is due next in Burns Harbor. Algoma Harvester finished discharging ore at ArcelorMittal and departed at 20:53, but is currently scheduled to arrive again Saturday morning to load grain. Perelik is unloading steel at Federal Marine Terminals, Jessica B is loading grain at G3, Chem Iyra is discharging UAN at Agrico, and Mandarin is taking on grain at Richardson Terminal. Tundra, Marietje Deborah, and Shoveler are at anchor waiting their turn at the docks, and Damia Desgagnes is laid-up at Lafarge.

Toronto, ON – Joshua Hebeisen
Viking Cruise Lines’ new vessel Viking Octantis arrived at 14:36. She will soon embark on her inaugural cruise of the Great Lakes.
