Buffalo, NY – Brian Wroblewski
The USCG ice breaking tug Bristol Bay arrived with her buoy barge CGB 12001 at 9AM on November 18th. They tied up at the Visiting Ship’s Dock to wait out some nasty weather before starting their work in the harbor. American Mariner was due for General Mills at 10PM on the 18th, but due to high winds, the captain decided to head for Long Point Bay and drop the hooks in the Port Dover anchorage for the night. Five other boats were all anchored there in a big horseshoe shape spread out over a few miles. That was probably a good idea because waves were crashing over the breakwall here and the water levels were way up from the lake seiche effect of the stiff wind.
