BUFFALO, NEW YORK-Brian Wroblewski
The NEW YORK was finally able to get underway on the morning of the 25th at 7AM. She pushed her barge DS-509A out to the lake and switched out of the notch into towing gear off Windmill Point. Around 9AM, she met the inbound ALGOMA COMPASS “on the one whistle” and headed down the South Shore Course for Cleveland. The COMPASS then came in the South Entrance Channel and turned up the Outer Harbor. They stopped off the CRH cement terminal and then backed in to the Lackawanna slip for the Compass Minerals salt dome. As her stern entered the slip, she was at a cockeyed angle to the Main Dock and her port side cleared the knuckle at the North end of the West wall by only 8 feet. Once the COMPASS was entirely inside the confines of Gateway Metroport, she eventually straightened out and then backed down with ease to the extreme South end for unloading directly into the dome. The boat was empty by 5PM and they dropped lines for departure. She slowly made her way out and departed.

NANTICOKE, ONTARIO-Bill Kloss
Sarah Desgagnes and Algotitan arrived to load petroleum products at Imperial Oil. Edwin H. Gott docked at Stelco to unload ore.
