Duluth, MN – Superior, WI – Joshua Hebeisen
Gale warnings have now been extended through the weekend and into the start of the week, once again impacting traffic on the western side of Lake Superior. A Saturday with only two passages but lots of shifting kicked off just before 07:00 as Joseph L. Block moved from her moorings along the east side of CN Dock 6 over to CN-Hallett Dock 5 for a partial load of blast furnace trim. 30 minutes later, occasional visitor John J. Boland made her entrance through the Duluth piers loaded with stone from Cedarville’s Port Dolomite. Though due at Hallett to unload her cargo, the vessel took a delay at SMET until about 19:00. She slipped in at the dock past the Block at 20:00, with the latter immediately casting off and beginning the long journey across the harbor to BNSF Dock 5. The handsome striped laker will presumably be topping off her holds with taconite. Departing the dock earlier in the day was CSL Laurentien, bound for an unlisted port and starting along the northern route along the coast at 08:19. Federal Katsura is at Ash Grove unloading cement; Lee A. Tregurtha is making up for her infrequent visits with an extended stay at CN Dock 6 to wait out the weather. They reportedly might be here for a few days.

To move up or down the actual Port Reports page itself, make sure your cursor/finger is outside of the box.
