Duluth, MN Superior, WI – Joshua Hebeisen
For the second day in a row, Twin Ports traffic would consist solely of a pair of passages on the Duluth side of the harbor. Dirk S. VanEnkevort/Michigan Trader wrapped up their unload of stone at Graymont Superior around midmorning, pulling out and departing via the Duluth Ship Canal at 10:13 for the short trip north to Silver Bay. Steamer Arthur M. Anderson was inbound four hours later, also with a stone delivery, but would make the trek to West Duluth’s C. Reiss facility to conduct her business at the dock. Handling of cargo by laker at this location is nearing its end, with the company expected to move its operations across the harbor to Superior sometime in 2023. The Anderson was making her way back up to the main basin to load ore at CN Dock 6 around midnight. Roerborg is at the port terminal discharging wind turbine components, Federal Hunter is nearby handling cement, and American Spirit continues undergoing repairs at Enbridge.

Marquette, MI – Oggdo Bogdo
After finishing her rare load at the LS&I dock, the American Mariner departed at 11:04 for Toledo. A few hours after the Mariner left, the Joyce L. VanEnkevort/Great Lakes Trader arrived at 15:23 to take its place. VanEnkevort Tug and Barge, Inc. has been sending a variety of vessels up to Marquette as of late. Further ahead is the Hon. James L. Oberstar as usual. Once again, she is headed straight to Marquette instead of carrying stone to Duluth.

Grand Haven, MI – Oggdo Bogdo
After making an extremely rare visit to unload stone from Bruce Mines on Monday night, the Great Lakes Fleet vessel John G. Munson departed empty at 07:58 for Port Inland. It could be years before another Munson arrival to Grand Haven, so this one is special.

Muskegon, MI – Oggdo Bogdo
One of the all-time fan-favorite classic ships, the Wilfred Sykes arrived Muskegon once again to unload dolomite from Drummond Island. She was inbound at 09:26 and out at 17:50 to head off to Port Dolomite. Boatnerds will eagerly await her return.

Port Dolomite, MI – Joshua Hebeisen
Telescoping hatches closed and blue tarpaulins fastened, Saginaw was outbound at 04:00 early Tuesday morning headed south for Windsor. Herbert C. Jackson would arrive later in the day at 17:30 to commence a load of stone for Cleveland.

Meldrum Bay, ON – Joshua Hebeisen
Algoma Buffalo arrived at 10:15, loaded stone, and cleared Cockburn Island for Windsor 13 hours later.

Stoneport, MI – Joshua Hebeisen
Olive L. Moore/Menominee were back yet again on Tuesday, approaching the breakwater to load more stone around 17:00. There’s a good chance the cargo will end up being shuttled down Saginaw Bay to the river of the same name.

Detroit, MI Windsor, ON – Joshua Hebeisen
Frankensteined laker Manitoulin fit right in with the spooky season when she stopped for fuel at Sterling around 01:00 Tuesday morning, later heading upbound at 04:15 for Bruce Mines. The return trip to Toledo will place her back in town already within the next few days. Across the river, Clyde S. VanEnkevort/Erie Trader were filling up with fuel of their own at Mistersky and would get underway for Silver Bay before 02:30. Twin Ports-bound Mesabi Miner was already waiting and in position for her turn, Sam Laud was next at the dock in a 07:35 passing of the baton, and Iver Bright paid a visit to Ajax from Sarnia around 09:00. The Laud’s eventual 09:47 departure for the Soo’s Algoma Steel would see the laker pass by the location she had grounded just days earlier off Peche Island. Paul R. Tregurtha kept the Mistersky streak alive at 10:00; the Queen departed for Superior at 14:16 to rack up even more frequent sailor miles. G.L. Ostrander/Integrity arrived from Cleveland at 16:39 and tied up at Holcim a happy couple. An apparent AIS-indicated divorce 2.5 hours later would see the tug head up to Mistersky on her lonesome to fuel while the barge took care of business at the dock. The pair got back together at 22:00 and remained there overnight. Kaye E. Barker was the last Tuesday traffic with a 21:55 entry for the Dearborn Works. Harvest Spirit remained at ADM since staking her claim to the dock on Monday.
