Duluth-Superior – Scott Bjorklund
Duluth Entry:
John G. Munson departed at 05:58 (CST) Saturday morning with iron ore pellets for Gary. Mesabi Miner arrived at 07:19 to load iron ore pellets at CN#6. Federal Ruhr departed at 08:31 empty for Thunder Bay. As of Saturday afternoon, Mesabi Miner was loading at CN#6. Mesabi Miner is estimated to depart early Sunday with iron ore pellets. American Century is expected mid-afternoon to load low sulfur coal at SMET. Paul R. Tregurtha is expected early evening to load low sulfur coal at SMET; they may anchor outside Duluth on arrival to wait for American Century to load. James R. Barker is expected mid-evening to load iron ore pellets at CN#6.
Superior Entry:
Walter J. McCarthy Jr. departed at 20:11 (CST) Friday night with iron ore pellets for Burns Harbor. As of Saturday afternoon, no vessels were in port on the Superior side. No vessels are expected through Superior until Monday.
Two Harbors- Silver Bay – Gary A. Putney
Atlantic Huron departed Two Harbors on October 1st at 16:23 for Quebec City. Arriving Two Harbors on 10/2 at 14:14 was the Indiana Harbor. Due Two Harbors late on 10/2 is the Michipicoten. Due Two Harbors on 10/3 is the Edgar B. Speer. Northshore Mining in Silver Bay saw the arrival of the Joyce L. VanEnkevort/Great Lakes Trader on 10/2 at 07:30. Due Silver Bay on 10/3 is the Dirk S. VanEnkevort/Michigan Trader.
St. Marys River
The river was busy on a rainy Saturday afternoon. Upbound traffic included John J. Boland, which stopped at the upper end of the locks to unload limestone for the new lock project. Late-afternoon, Cuyahoga was upbound with salt and tied up at the Carbide Dock to unload. She departed downbount at 11 p.m. James R. Barker was upbound with a lengthly salute at Mission Point around 4:30. She was followed by the saltie Heerengracht around 5:30 and Harvest Spirit late. Downbound traffic included Manitoulin, Blair McKeil, Maumee/Victory and Algoma Strongfield, with Edenborg and Atlantic Huron late. H. Lee White and Federal Nagara were approaching DeTour upbound late. Algoma Innovator remained at the Algoma Export dock.
Goderich, ON – Bruce Douglas
Algoma Intrepid cleared 6.20 am Friday upbound for Chicago with salt.
Lake Erie Ports for Saturday – Bill Kloss
Monroe: New York/Double Skin 509A departed at 05:36 for Detroit.
Marblehead: Dorothy Ann/Pathfinder left late Friday night for Lorain.
Lorain: Dorothy Ann/Pathfinder unloaded at LaFarge and departed for Goderich at 08:00.
Cleveland: BBC St. Petersburg departed for Burns Harbor at 00:19. American Courage is on the shuttles.
Nanticoke: Edwin H. Gott departed for Two Harbors at 01:47. Olive L. Moore/Menominee unloaded at Stelco then departed for Marblehead at 08:52. Algoma Sault left for Clarkson.
