Two Harbors, MN – Gary Putney
Edwin H. Gott departed Two Harbors at 07:56 for Nanticoke on September 28. Arthur M. Anderson arrived the Two Harbors shiploader at 11:03. As of 12:30 on September 28, Indiana Harbor is near Copper Harbor heading for Two Harbors.

Silver Bay, MN – Gary Putney
Clyde S. VanEnkevort/Erie Trader arrived Silver Bay at 01:06 on September 28, probably loading for Toledo.

Alpena, MI – Jason Luther
Arriving at 9:47 on the morning of September 28 for the first time in Alpena was the Mark W. Barker to unload product at Holcim from Detroit. Coming in right behind was the classy steamer Alpena, arriving under the silos to load cement at high noon. Waiting for their turn under the silos was the tug G.L. Ostrander with barge Integrity riding out the wind out in Thunder Bay. Which has been blowing strong from the east all week.

Monroe, MI – Bill Kloss

Mark W. Barker loaded bottom ash and is on the way to deliver in Alpena.

September 28
American Mariner unloaded at DTE and then left; Paul R. Tregurtha arrived with coal for DTE.

Toledo, OH – Bill Kloss
September 27
Departing the Glass City were Federal Shimanto to Thunder Bay and H. Lee White to Sault Ste. Marie, stopping for fuel in Detroit. Arrivals were Herbert C. Jackson to CSX, Dirk S. VanEnkevort/Michigan Trader to unload at Ironville, CSL Niagara going to anchor, and Joyce L. VanEnkevort/Great Lakes Trader to Torco. Federal Yoshino and Evans Spirit remain at Midwest Terminals, and Albert/ Margaret is at the Gradel dock.

September 28
Departing were Herbert C. Jackson to Detroit, Dirk S. VanEnkevort/Michigan Trader to Silver Bay, CSL Niagara to Nanticoke, Joyce L. VanEnkevort/Great Lakes Trader to Meldrum Bay, Albert/Margaret to Cheboygan, and Evans Spirit to Thunder Bay. Federal Yoshino remains at Midwest Terminals. Defiance/Ashtabula was a late-night arrival.

Cleveland, OH – Bill Kloss
On September 27, with 63,000 tons of UTAC pellets, Walter J. McCarthy Jr. unloaded at the Bulk Terminal and then departed for Superior, WI. Also in town on Wednesday was the cruise ship Le Dumont-d’Urville. Departures were Herbert C. Jackson to Toledo and Jamno to Burns Harbor. Wilfred Sykes unloaded at the Cliffs stone dock and then left for Port Inland. American Courage delivered to Ontario Stone and then moved to the Bulk Terminal to load a shuttle.

Grand River, OH – Fairport Harbor, OH – Bill Kloss

Frontenac arrived to load at Morton Salt.

September 28
Frontenac loaded road salt and left to deliver to Johnstown, ON.

Conneaut, OH – Bill Kloss
After unloading at the P&C Dock, John D. Leitch left for Toledo on September 28.

Buffalo, NY – Lackawanna, NY – Tonawanda, NY – Brian Wroblewski
September 27
The Karen Andrie/Endeavor departed Tonawanda around 08:30. They locked through at Black Rock and then cleared the Buffalo piers bound for Indiana Harbor around 10:30. Out in the lake they met the inbound Defiance/Ashtabula off Point Abino. The Defiance brought her big barge full of sand up the City Ship Canal to CSI and spent the day unloading there.

September 28
McKeil Marine’s tugs Wyatt M. and Sheri Lynn S. finally departed the International Niagara Control Works on the Canadian side of the Niagara River with the barge MM170 around 14:00. They were there for some sort of construction work since August 13. They used the Chippewa Channel to reach the Black Rock Lock and finally cleared the Buffalo piers bound for Port Colborne around 17:30.

Welland Canal – Wayne Elliott
Joseph H. Thompson arrived at Port Colborne on September 27 at 16:00. She is currently at dock 17 to deballast and will then shift to the MRC south berth to be rolled out of the water this week for scrapping. Norisle is to arrive later this week under tow.

Nanticoke, ON – Bill Kloss
September 27
Presque Isle departed for Two Harbors, MN. Atlantic Huron brought in ore for Stelco, and Algosea remains at Imperial Oil.

September 28
Once empty at Stelco, Atlantic Huron departed for Superior, WI. Also leaving was Algosea with petroleum products for Tracy, PQ.
