Southern Lake Michigan Ports – Andrew Meyer
Chicago Area, IL/IN: Dirk S. VanEnkevort is the remaining vessel in Buffington, with a lot of Xs and Os on her AIS destination. Not sure where she is due or when she arrived, but the American Mariner seems to be long gone. Flevoborg is still in port but now showing a Hamilton destination.
Indiana Harbor, IN: Great Republic made an appearance in Indiana Harbor at 2013 on Saturday night. The unique laker would subsequently depart at 1649 on Sunday. An 0600 estimated arrival time on September 6 is the next scheduled traffic, it being the James R. Barker.
Gary, IN: Edgar B. Speer made port at 1236 on September 4, and will be the only traffic of the weekend. Walter J. McCarthy Jr is due on the 6th.
Burns Harbor, IN: Dorothy Ann and Pathfinder departed at 1454 on September 4. Isa remains moored in port, with an unknown departure time. Labor Day promises to be busy at the port, with Herbert C. Jackson and Burns Harbor due in the middle of the day.
Drummond Island, MI – Andrew Meyer
Looks as though very little labor will take place in Drummond Island for Labor Day. No expected arrivals.
Calcite, MI – Andrew Meyer
Sam Laud arrived Calcite at 1407. There are two subsequent arrivals scheduled for the 4th- Calumet and John J. Boland. American Mariner is due from Buffington around midday on Labor Day.
Port Inland, MI – Andrew Meyer
A fair amount of early morning traffic occurred Sunday in Port Inland. First off was the departure of the Saginaw at 0245. She was immediately replaced by the Wilfred Sykes. Sykes spend about 12 hours in port and departed around 1330, and was replaced at that point by the Manitowoc. H. Lee White is due to arrive around 1800 on Sunday, but will likely wait to load until the Manitowoc clears town.
Algoma Compass cleared 08.03 Saturday downbound to Cote St Catherines with salt. Algoma Buffalo arrived 15.03 Sunday loading at Compass Minerals. Algoma Conveyor expected next for salt.
Lake Erie Ports – Bill Kloss
Toledo, OH: Prentiss Brown/St. Marys Challenger departed for Cleveland late Saturday night. Clyde S. VanEnkevort/Erie Trader arrived at 02:05 and unloaded at Ironville.
Kingsville, ON: The classic Maritimer Cuyahoga arrived at 16:30, unloaded stone at Southwestern Sales Corp, then departed at 19:17 for Marblehead.
Marblehead, OH: Laura L. VanEnkevort/Joseph H. Thompson arrived at 16:39 to load stone at Holcim. Cuyahoga arrived at 21:01 and anchored in Lake Erie.
Sandusky, OH: Florence Spirit left for Grand Anse at 02:05. Kaye E. Barker moved under the loader at 02:30, loaded coal and departed at 15:53 for the “Zug Island Yacht Club “, as was referred to in their AIS. Lee A. Tregurtha arrived at 10:39 to load coal.
Cleveland, OH: G.L. Ostrander/Integrity arrived at 05:57 to unload at Holcim Cement, then departed at 12:37 for Alpena, MI. Prentiss Brown/St. Marys Challenger arrived at 07:28, unloaded cement and left for Charlevoix. American Courage, done with the shuttles, departed for Cedarville, MI at 19:03.
Fairport Harbor, OH: Kathy Lynn is still on the dredging project.
Ashtabula, OH: Laura L. VanEnkevort/Joseph H.Thompson departed at 07:27 for Marblehead.
Nanticoke, ON: CSL Niagara arrived at Stelco at 09:47 and unloaded ore. Once empty, she departed for Sandusky, OH at 20:35. Algoma Hansa left for Tracy, PQ at 19:16. Algocanada is at Imperial Oil and Algoscotia is at anchor off of Port Dover.
