Marquette, MI – Arthur Pickering
Marquette Report, Sept 7th:  The Erie Trader arrived early this morning and departed for Cleveland this afternoon.  The next vessel will be the Hon. James Oberstar scheduled for a Thursday arrival followed by the Lee Tregurtha on Saturday.

St. Marys River – Know Your Ships
Recent images show the pilothouse of the Mississagi, in the Purvis Marine scrapyard above the locks, has been removed.

Southern Lake Michigan Ports – Andrew Meyer
Indiana Harbor, IN: The classic laker Wilfred Sykes arrived at 1156 on Monday with a load of stone from Port Inland. She has yet to depart. James R. Barker arrived at 1812 on Tuesday. Looking ahead, Joseph L. Block is due from Duluth on September 8 at 1900, and an infrequent visit from Algoma’s veteran Algoma Transport late on September 10. The Transport is coming from Montreal.
Gary, IN: Edgar B. Speer departed at 0230. She would be the only traffic until Tuesday at 1151.
Burns Harbor, IN: Burns Harbor would arrive around midday on Labor Day, and has not departed as of this writing. Herbert C. Jackson has come and gone, arriving around the same time as the Burns Harbor and departing at 2038.
Drummond Island, MI – Andrew Meyer
Cuyahoga departed Drummond Island at 0157 on September 3, bound for Sarnia.

Calcite, MI – Andrew Meyer
It’s been a whole lot of Rand in Calcite lately. John J. Boland arrived late Sunday evening. Sam Laud cleared port at 0311 on Labor Day morning, clearing space for the Calumet, which arrived at 0648. The Boland would make her departure at 1532. Following the Boland was near-sister American Mariner, arriving at 1533. Calumet would depart at 2138 and be replaced moments later by the American Courage, ending a busy Labor Day. Tuesday would see just as much traffic, with the American Mariner departing just before noon and the American Courage just after. Lee A. Tregurtha would break the Rand cycle with a 1217 arrival. No traffic is reported for AIS for Wednesday. 

Port Inland, MI – Andrew Meyer
Port Inland ended up being pretty busy for Labor Day. H. Lee White kicked off the festivities just after midnight. The vessel would spend a bit over 13 hours in port before a 1357 departure. Next up was the Dirk VanEnkevort with younger but bigger brother Michigan Trader at 1403. The pair departed just after 2200. That would be the last traffic for Labor Day. Tuesday afternoon saw the Manitowoc arrive at 1429.

Lake Erie Ports, September 7 – Bill Kloss
Toledo, OH: Algoma Sault departed for Hamilton, ON at 03:45. Michipicoten departed for Sandusky at 03:53. The classic Cuyahoga arrived at 08:43.
Marblehead, OH: Sam Laud arrived from Cleveland at 19:19.
Sandusky, OH: CSL Niagara departed with coal for Nanticoke at 10:45. Michipicoten arrived at 13:12, loaded at Norfolk Southern and left at 18:16 with coal for Algoma Steel at the Soo.
Cleveland, OH: The saltie ABB Vanessa left late Tuesday night for Thunder Bay, ON. Samuel deChamplain/Innovation arrived at 06:58 to unload at the Holcim Cement plant. Fednav’s Federal Kivalina arrived at the Port at 11:56. She berthed at dock 24E. Sam Laud departed for Marblehead at 15:35.
Ashtabula, OH: American Courage arrived at 22:30.
Conneaut, OH: Arthur M. Anderson departed for Stoneport at 03:32. Defiance/Ashtabula moved to the P&C dock at 04:28. John G. Munson was a late night arrival.
Erie, PA: H. Lee White arrived at Carmeuse at 09:28 to unload stone. She departed for Brevort once empty.
Buffalo, NY: New York/Double Skin 509A unloaded at the Marathon terminal. She left for Monroe, MI at 15:02.
Nanticoke, ON: Algocanada departed late Tuesday night for Sarnia. Frontenac was a late night arrival to unload ore at Stelco.  Algosea and Algoscotia are at Imperial Oil.

Lake Erie Ports, September 6 – Bill Kloss
Monroe, MI: The tug Meredith Ashton arrived late Monday night.
Toledo, OH: Michipicoten arrived at 16:10,  followed by Algoma Sault at 17:51.
Marblehead, OH: Sam Laud arrived at 19:19 to load stone at Holcim.
Lorain, OH: Laura L. VanEnkevort/Joseph H. Thompson departed at midnight for Stoneport.
Cleveland, OH: Sam Laud arrived at 06:53 and unloaded at Ontario Stone. She departed for Marblehead at 15:35. ABB Vanessa is unloading containers at the Port.
Conneaut, OH: Arthur M. Anderson arrived at 01:50 and anchored in Lake Erie. She moved to the P&C dock at 17:00. Defiance/Ashtabula arrived at 07:18 and also anchored in Lake Erie.
Buffalo, NY: Defiance/Ashtabula departed late Monday night for Conneaut.  New York/Double Skin 509A arrived at 14:30
